Four years ago I was told I would have to undergo open heart surgery to replace a faulty aortic valve. Whilst I am still fit enough I am going to challenge myself to raise money for disadvantaged and disabled children. I am paying 7.5k for the trip and have pledged to raise a further 10k. Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby, funding life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland to support children and young people with a disability or facing disadvantage.
The LMAX Exchange Everest Rugby Challenge will take place over 24 days from the 13th April 2019 with our goal to battle acclimatisation and heights of 6,500 meters above Advanced Base Camp to play the highest game of full contact rugby and the highest game of mixed touch rugby in history - all in support of Wooden Spoon.
The money we raise will make a real difference to Wooden Spoon's beneficiaries, helping towards the vision that through the power of rugby, every child and young person has access to the same opportunities, no matter what their background.
