Greater Manchester Marathon 2014 · 6 April 2014 ·

We raise funds for equipment and services to ensure Alder Hey remains world class.

Story

I finished the Manchester Marathon in 3 hours and 52 minutes and it hurt like hell!

Neil and Lisa Mitchell lost their little boy Joseph in October 2012 after only 2 and a half years. He was born with a heart condition which meant he was in and out of hospital for most of his short life. We watched Neil throughout his little boy's life with pride and sorrow and can only imagine how brave he needed to be for his family.

Alder Hey helped support Joseph, Neil, Lisa and Molly through their difficult but precious time together and their own charity Touched by an Angel will help families in a similar situation.

I'll be running the Manchester Marathon in April 2014 to raise money in support of Neil and Lisa. Whilst I guarantee there will be no record breaking times, I'd ask you to spare a moment to remember Joseph and consider the impact his passing had.
