Story
Thanks for taking time to look at my Justgiving page.
On January the 28th this year our wonderful son Siddy lost his life to very agressive children's cancer Neuroblastoma
Siddy was amazing! He was brilliant fun, always smiling, happy and full of life.
On November 8th last year, aged 14 months he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Scans and tests showed he had a primary tumour in his lower abdomen and secondary tumours on his back and in his neck.
At first his treatment seemed to be going well but around Christmas test results showed that the chemotherapy wasn’t working. The consultants switched to a stronger form of chemo but his tumours continued to grow.
Eventually the size of the primary tumour meant that his lungs could no longer cope. Siddy passed away on the 28th of January. He fought so bravely, showing courage and determination until the end.
My wife Flora and I have set up Smile with Siddy to raise money to fund research into this dreadful disease. Without reseach to find better treatments more and more of our precious children will die.
On 13th September our wonderful son would have been 2. We knew September was going to be a tough month and we wondered how to mark Sid's birthday and how to honour our beautiful boy. Sid underwent the challenges of his treatment without complaining. We could all learn so much from his bravery.
So I decided to take on some challenges of my own. September is now 'Siddy's September Sportathon'. I am being joined in every race, and in other events, by some amazing people who are brave enough to stand up and face the nasty truth of Neuroblastoma.
The events are:
The Bushy Park 10K,
Bristol Half Marathon,
Bath Duathlon,
Hever Castle Sprint Triathlon.
I hadn't really been a keep fit type or a runner before but have found the training has given me a purpose through this difficult time.
Thank you so much for your support.
