Story
Matt was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer in mid November. His disease progressed rapidly and on 29th December, he died. In 6 weeks, Matt had gone from being seemingly fit and healthy and running around after the kids, to being seriously ill needing daily care.
Like all cancers, bowel cancer is life changing. However it is often a cancer that goes unnoticed. In Matt's case, he was symptom-less until his disease was advanced and too young to be part of any screening programme which may have picked up changes early enough for treatment. Unusual but unfortunately not unique.
We can never bring Matt back, but we can help further the work of Bowel Cancer UK to support, campaign, research and educate so other families are not facing a future without their daddy.
Many of you have already sent me your memories of Matt. Please continue so I can build a picture of our wonderful friend, colleague, husband and daddy for our children.
