Mat's Lands End to John O'Groats
Fundraising for Parkinson’s UK
Fundraising for Parkinson’s UK
On 08th August '07 I completed my cycling trip of a lifetime, from Land's End to John o'Groats to raise money for the Parkinsons Disease Society (PDS). The trip took 23 days, covering just under 1200 miles. It was certainly a challenging trip, but highly rewarding. Further information on the trip can be found at http://matslandsendtojohnogroats.blogspot.com/.
Many thanks to all those who've kindly given so generously both through this site and 'offline'. My 'target', has been far exceeded, which is brilliant, but the PDS will be able to make use of every extra penny. Donations will still be gratefully received, with this site will remaining active until the end of November.
The PDS is a registered charity which provides support, advice and information to people with Parkinson's and to those who care and provide treatment for them. They offer a wealth of printed and online information, give support through their free Helpline service and have spent more than £30 million on researching all aspects of Parkinson's.
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition which affects movements that the majority of us take for granted, such as walking, talking, writing, and perhaps cycling. At present there is no cure for Parkinson's, with 1 in 500 people being affected, of which a member of my family is one, and with 10,000 people being diagnosed each year.
Donating through justgiving.com is simple, quick and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me as the PDS will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support however large or small.
