Mum was a prolific walker. She loved the satisfying work of hiking, and even more so, treasured being in nature. We visited Morocco together and had always planned to venture back to the Atlas Mountains. 

Mum was fit, active, young and full of adventure when she was diagnosed with cancer in August 2018. It came tragically fast and too early. Her short decline was a shock for anyone who knew her. 

The courage that she showed through her final weeks was a lesson. Unfortunately, there are many women and men in their 20's and 30's are being diagnosed with cancer every day. Just for a moment, imagine the courage you have to summon when you are faced with that news. We have to talk about it frankly because it will touch each of us in its own way. By this point in our lives, we all have friends, parents, children who have experienced it. 

I have been invited by wonderful British brand Whistles and brilliant magazine Twin, in partnership with cancer charity Trekstock, to hike the Atlas Mountains and raise money for cancer research. We will be climbing to the highest peak in Morocco from 23rd - 28th May.
