Fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis Trust
In June 2020 I will be paddle boarding a marathon 26 nautical miles (30 miles) along Bournemouth Bay. This is to raise money for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
This event was set up by 2 very good friends whose son, my godson, was born with Cystic Fibrosis and so wanted to help in some small way to support them and the family in raising awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis.
I had never paddle boarded before taking on this challenge; I have now bought a board and a wetsuit, with my longest paddle so far being just over 3 miles (2 hours) - better start training!
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting genetic condition affecting more than 10,000 people across the UK. It affects the lungs and digestive system and can cause chronic infections and reduced lung function. Currently, half of those with CF will not live past age 41.The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a brighter future for people with CF and their families by funding cutting-edge research, driving up standards of care and supporting people with the condition and their loved ones every step of the way.
