Story
Our story - by Simon Francis.
Being known as a keen cyclist and as a result of interest from several of my Masonic friends in Swansea over the last months, I have put together a small cycling group that we have called The Masonic MAMILs (Middle Aged Men In Lycra). It was my original aim, with weekly training rides, to prepare the group to take part in the annual Swansea Bike Ride for 2018, but as this ride was initially cancelled back in January, we decided to hold our own sponsored ride and have agreed that it should be in support of the Stroke Association for Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot.
The ride is called ‘The Gower Bay Challenge’ and will take place on Sunday 15th July, 2018, starting and ending at The Masonic Hall, Saint Helens Road, Swansea. This sponsored ride will take the form of a 35 mile loop of the Gower, a testing route for our riders that involves nearly 1800 feet of elevation. However the more experienced participants will have the option or personal ‘Challenge’ to ride into all the major bays of the peninsular thereby increasing the ride distance to 60 miles and a massive 5,000 feet of hill climbing. The decision is theirs!
We have several Masons already committed to this ride who's details are listed on this page and we are still open to any who feels they are up for the 'Challenge'.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, we hope that you will sponsor a rider and make a donation, any amount big or small, is all very much appreciated and gratefully received and we assure you it will be faithfully applied.
