Story

 Bismillah alrahmaan alraheem.

As some of you may be aware, on the 1st June 2013, our dear friend Marzuq Khan, 21, Accountant from Manchester, suffered a number of rare Pontine strokes. By the grace of God he survived the 3 strokes however as a consequence is now in a condition known medically as 'locked-in' syndrome. This means he is completely paralysed, from head to toe and now is only able to communicate using movements of his eyes. For those who know him, will remember him as a fun loving, active and caring individual. He is now unable to do any of the things he once loved.

A pontine stroke is essentially a stroke within the brain stem due to a hemorrhage, or bleeding of the blood vessels in this portion of the brain. This type of stroke is linked more to hypertension, or high blood pressure, than to anything else. However, simply being hypertensive doesn't mean you'll necessarily have a pontine stroke. It's just one of the risk factors. As with any condition, there are a number of symptoms of a pontine stroke that can help indicate whether a person is experiencing one.

Locked-in syndrome usually results in quadriplegia and the inability to speaking otherwise cognitively intact individuals. Those with locked-in syndrome may be able to communicate with others through coded messages by blinking or moving their eyes, which are often not affected by the paralysis. The symptoms are similar to those of sleep paralysis. Patients who have locked-in syndrome are conscious and aware, with no loss of cognitive function. They can sometimes retain sensation throughout their bodies. Some patients may have the ability to move certain facial muscles, and most often some or all of the extra ocular eye muscles. Individuals with the syndrome lack coordination between breathing and voice. This restricts them from producing voluntary sounds, though the vocal cords are not paralysed

We his friends, have decided to continue his love of helping others by fundraising in his name. We pray that God will alleviate some of his suffering through this and improve his current state. We hope to build 1 deep water well and sponsor orphans in his name. We ask all friends, family, supporters and generous individuals to give whatever they can to this cause.

The Prophet  said;'' “Treat your sick ones with charity.” Abu Dawod and classed as hasan by Shaykh al-Albaani

Sheikh Ibn Jibreen said: Charity is a beneficial treatment/remedy, which cures from diseases, and reduces illnesses, and what supports that is the saying of prophet Mohammed peace be upon him: “Charity extinguishes sins as water does to fire” (Narrated by Ahmed 3/399). So perhaps some of the diseases occur as a punishment for sins of a patient. So whenever his/her family give on his behalf the sin is removed, which in turn removes the diseases. Or that the Sadaqah is written as good deeds, so his heart becomes stronger because of it, and the disease is reduced”.

May Allah protect us all from these tests and if he has written them for us then may he give us the strenght to cope with whatever tests we are given. Please donate whatever you can and please share the link with all contacts.
