I am fundraising to help more people and horses through the BHS Changing Lives and Second Chance appeals.
Through my work in education, I observe the key role horses can play in people's lives in providing companionship, confidence building and helping with management of emotions when life brings challenges.
During my veterinary career I've witnessed the transformation that can occur when appropriate care is provided for rescued horses, giving them a second chance to deliver benefits to their human companions.
Although I have not raced before, I've ridden for over forty years. Race training is taking me right out of my 'comfort-zone'!!
When I spend time with horses - whether out in the Border hills or pottering round the yard talking to my neighbour's cob - I am calmer, my focus improves and I generally feel like the person I am meant to be!
