Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Im running in aid of the Ichthyosis Support Group which is a charity which supports the research of this very rare skin condition. This Charity is very special to us as our little nephew has this condition. Joseph has just had his first birthday in January 2014. He was born with a rare condition affecting his skin, a form of Ichthyosis.
For Joseph, this means his skin cells grow too fast, which causes scaling. He has to undergo a daily routine in order to maintain a level of skin care that most people would take for granted.
ISG, the Ichthyosis Support Group provide advice and support to parents and aim to raise awareness of this condition to both medical professionals and the public.Ichthyosis is a lifelong genetic disorder, of which there is currently no cure. There are many types, varying in severity, some of which are fatal. The condition is described as predominantly affecting the skin, but it's effect can also be psychological.
The ISG awards grants into the research of therapies and treatments and into the genetics of the condition. The group is run entirely by volunteers and has no government funding. A £25 donation will fund one hour of much needed research, so please give what you can.
