Story
Hi everyone! I’ve signed up for leg 3 of the amazing Round the World Clipper race. Leg 3 is from Cape of Good Hope ( South Africa) to Western Australia...the Southern Ocean. My leg starts mid Nov ‘19 and is 23 days approx of exciting ocean racing against 10 other 70’ Clippers. The Southern Ocean is one of the most arduous legs of the Round the World Race, famous for the Roaring Forties – strong westerly winds and big seas historically used by ships to speed their passage across the Southern Hemisphere.
One of the greatest things about this race is our charity partner UNICEF, which help to raise awareness of children in need globally. UNICEF works in over 190 countries to save the lives of children, defend their rights and help them achieve their potential.
I am going to divide my funds raised between the UNICEF and DEVON AIR AMBULANCE a local charity to me of which I am a patron. Please help me to raise my target!
Devon Air Ambulance is the charitable trust which raises the funds to keep two emergency air ambulances flying in and around the county of Devon. Flying seven days a week, one of the aircraft now flies into the hours of darkness - up to midnight, with future plans to extend the service further to 2am.In 2017 it cost £6.4 million to keep the service airborne, with every penny coming from the generosity of the communities, businesses and friends of Devon.Thank you for your support - it really does help to save lives!
RACE VIEWER: You can follow the race here (available in August). Lots of race information and crew blogs. ... but be careful, you might find yourself signing up for a leg or 2!
