Story
Mary and Ciaran have planned a 6-day West highland Way trek from Glasgow to Fortwilliam in Scotland over 6 days from 16th April – 21st April 2023. We want to use the trek as a fundraiser for our special friend Monica who sadly passed away on 16th March 2023. Monica and her husband John, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with her family and friends in Cushendall last year. Monica was a good friend, funny, mischievous, and determined to make the best of life. Monica and John had challenges to face throughout their life together, but they were able to bounce back and get on with daily life.
Last October 2022, Monica suffered a serious stroke, and this had a big impact upon her life and independence. That was hard for her as Monica was a very independent and self-sufficient women. Monica suffered another blow when she was diagnosed with Cancer early 2023
So as a tribute to Monica, we wanted to make the best use of our trek, to remember and celebrate her life, and give something back by supporting Stroke Association
When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. That's because a stroke happens in the brain, the control centre for who we are and what we can do. It happens every five minutes in the UK and changes lives instantly. Their specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community and the generosity of amazing people like you.
In loving memory of Monica Bull (Dempsey)
