Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. My family and I are taking on a Superhero Challenge for Mencap to raise vital funds to support people like my nephew, Gerard. Gerard has Autism as well as global developmental delay. As a family we had never experienced these difficulties with any of the other children and found it hard to support Gerard and his parents. When Gerard began his Mencap journey my sister knew immediately that he was in the right place. The staff were amazing with Gerard, but also sensitive and professional with my sister who felt lost and frustrated. They provided therapy for Gerard as well as help advise for his parents who needed support for financial entitlement and seeking assessments for SEN statements. Without their help Gerard would not have his statement or the place in St Gerard's Nursery where he is as happy as he was in Mencap. Gerard and all of his cousins will be dressing as Superheros and doing a sponsered walk to thank Mencap for the difference they made to Gerard and his family 👪.
