We help people with ME/CFS to understand and survive their illness

Story

M.E. is classified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a neurological disease. WHO classification is recognised by the Department of Health, the Medical Research Council and NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence).  It is  characterised by cognitive problems, chronic muscle and joint pain, extremely poor stamina, and numerous other symptoms which afflict people around the world in alarming numbers

I was a complete Sceptic until I was diagnosed with this illness and I want to raise money for M. E. research by visiting all the cities with Cathedrals in England and Wales and to walk as many steps with my walker as this disease allows. I was eventually diagnosed with ME in 2017, after many years of ill health suffering from illness and infections  including Diverticular Disease. I had months when I was unable to work and many stays in hospital.

Since August 2018 I have been lucky enough to find a therapist who has helped my symptoms improve far beyond my expectations.

So many people are not as fortunate as me and it is for them and myself I am continuing to fundraise for M.E.

The ME Association campaigns hard to get ME recognised as a severe neurological illness. Our helpline provides essential information and support to adults and children who have ME/CFS, and to their families and carers. We also fund biomedical research into the physical nature and causes of ME/CFS.
