Story
Hi,
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page and for supporting me in raising money for the incredible work of Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
It's my third time running the hugely inspiring Oxford Town and Gown 10k and every time it is wonderful to see so many people running to support people who suffer from this severely incapacitating genetic illness, their families and all who work with them.
My brother suffers from Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. This illness means the gene that produces healthy muscle is faulty, causing devastating muscle wastage and greatly reduced life expectancy.
Dominic uses a wheelchair and every day faces the terrifying reality of losing strength, including the ability to walk and the normal functioning of the rest of his body.
He is also astonishingly clever, seems to have a history encyclopedia in his head, has a brilliant witty sense of humour and is the most courageous person I know. The time we have together means the world to me and I will be running at my very best thinking of how much he deals with and yet what a wonderful brother, son and friend he is.
There is currently no cure and so there is a desperate need for more research to get a breakthrough in being able to treat the disease.
Please support me and the charity's work towards this ultimate aim by donating what you can.
Thank you so much.
