Story
It's an honour and privilege being part of the Hospice UK marathon team, supporting such a great cause is easy, taking part in the London marathon will be the hard part.
Thinking of those who have gone before and the difference the Hospice makes to ease the lives of those in their care, in their hour of need is remarkable and inspirational.
In North Lanarkshire, The St Andrews hospice in Airdrie, my hometown is an intrinsic part of the local care system. Born in a generation where it is highly likely our families, friends and neighbours that form this local community will have experienced first-hand the great work that they do.
My Mum, Margaret, My Gran , Agnes and my Wife's Papa Andy all passed peacefully under their care. The professionalism and compassion shown by the staff was incredible at such an emotional time.
This perpetual connection to the Hospice has inspired me to do my first marathon with my first choice charity partner as a memorial to my loved ones. St Andrews Hospice will always have a place in our hearts.
