Story
I appreciate you visiting my JustGiving page. The 20th anniversary of my late brother-in-law "Kukon" will be this year (March 29). (Abu Shahim). Kukon, suffered from severe mental health issues and sadly passed away at the age of 19.
We have come a long way as a society in terms of mental health awareness. Sadly, not everyone is aware of mental health issues. Due to the stigma associated with mental health conditions, members of the BAME community (especially the South Asian population), and notably young adult men, frequently receive incorrect diagnoses and inadequate care.
I will be doing the 21-kilometer London Landmarks Half Marathon on April 2 in honour of him and to support the mental health charity Mind while also bringing attention to the issue among young men and people of colour. My brother-in-law (Remon) and a friend will run beside me (Abdul). Our Team Page has a link to their pages.
Your donations will all be sent directly to the organisation. The race will take place during Ramadan, a holy month. Your donations, no matter how small, will be gratefully accepted and will benefit a worthy cause. I'll connect my page to my Strava account so you can track my training development as well.
I appreciate your help!
