Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm planning to walk coast to coast along Hadrian's Wall at the beginning of August. I chose this as a challenge to myself by doing something our Dave would have loved to see me do.
Dave was my uncle, but growing up he was more like my big brother. There were only a handful of years between us, so I always tagged along with him and his mates. Then as we got older, this changed into borrowing his clothes and going with him to the pub!
My plan was always to follow him into the Royal Marines, but after coming off a rope on the bottom field during my PRC in the late 90's, a crushed disc in my back changed things and I picked a different path. But being a Marine was a big part of our Dave's life and he was proud of the brothers that he served with.
Sadly, our Dave took his own life last week. The reason I chose to do a challenge was to try and raise awareness and hopefully raise a bit of cash to enable this organisation to continue to help others.
Life is a struggle at times and those demons in the blackness can engulf you. Talking helps. Talk to a friend, talk to family. Pick up the phone and talk to a stranger. There's always someone that loves you.
Love you big man - I'll see you on the other side.
