Story

Updated 8/9/2016

Training now completed.

Three off road courses on three different bikes, 2 KTM's which is the bike of choice in Africa and a BMW GS Adventure. Ive been to Spain and trained in the Andalucian mountains and the wilds of Brecon, guess which was warmer?

All our equipment is now purchased and tested, the most important kit arrives tomorrow in the shape of an MSR micro cooking  stove, I need my brews in a morning!

So, less than a month to go for the biggy, come on now, stump up, you know you will feel better!

Hi everyone, here we go again!

So, following our successful circumnavigation of Iceland in 2014, I have been looking for another life challenge. As you all know biking has featured quite highly in my life since that challenge and although my K1600 is an awesome bit of kit I really wanted to do something that was really physically challenging on a bike. And so, the big 5 circumnavigation of Lake Victoria off road trek landed just at the right moment in time.

Here is the opening paragraph of the itinerary:-

Also known as Victoria Nyanza,

Lake

Victoria  is bordered by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. It has an area of 69,490 sq km and lies 1,130 m above sea level. It is the world’s second largest fresh water lake after Lake Superior and is named after Queen Victoria.

Due to its geographical location and the difficulty of the trip in some parts, Lake Victoria presents an awesome opportunity for a unique motorbike adventure. An amazing ride through off and not so off-the beaten track through 5 very different countries in Africa: Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.

This is a completely unsupported trip, taking only what we can carry and thats about 20KG which includes spares, fuel, camping gear and clothing. A team of 5 of us will be riding KTM off road 500's and 690's for 28 days through some of the most demanding terrain in the world.

Here are a few figures:-

35 days airport to airport, 5 countries, 5800 Km, 24 towns, 12 injections,  3 training courses and lots of other stuff of which I will publish as it gets closer.

Ok, so what do I need from you?

Just like last time (we raised £450 which I am hugely grateful for) I am doing this for two reasons, not enough adrenaline in my life and Help For Heroes. I published pics on the site in various locations that I took the H4H sweat shirt which has seen some action since then! This will happen again via Faceache and here.

Im looking for your generous support once again to help our brothers and sisters who have given much to keep us safe. Anything you can do would be much appreciated.

All donations go straight to H4H and all my costs have been paid for by me. I will update this page and FaceAche as things hot up.

thanks in advance for your support.

Martyn, Jerry, Phil, Peter, Flavio.
