Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
On Halloween 2024, just 2 days before our 17th wedding anniversary, my husband Martin was diagnosed with Stage 3 Neck Cancer. The whirlwind that followed was like nothing else we as a family have ever experienced. The emotions, (fear, anger, anxiety) in addition to the arduous and frightening path through treatment, the sudden and unexpected “To Do Lists” that never seem to shrink, all while trying to continue with the, everyday aspects of normal life, is overwhelming at times. Luckily the support we receive from the doctors and nurses treating Martin and Macmillan, has been truly amazing. I don’t know what we would do without it.
As our Neck and Head Cancer nurses Áine and Emma said, “this is going to be like running a marathon”. They are so right. So in order to help support our supporters from Macmillan and to raise money to help them continue their invaluable work, my family and I (sisters, sisters-in-law and our kids) are doing our own marathon (walking, not running 😄), and taking on the Giant's Causeway Mighty Hike in June 2025.
We would be so grateful if you could help us raise money to help support others living with this brutal disease. Just £250 will pay for a Macmillan Nurse for one day, providing people living with cancer and their families essential medical, practical and emotional support. Imagine what more money raised will provide.
There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.
Thank you!
