Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

After my exertions of last year (a JOGLE), I thought that would be it, but following casual conversations with some Barnstaple Link Rotary Club members, I decided against my better judgement to do something even more extreme.

Now a year older at 66 and having survived a heart attack (15 yrs ago) followed by a triple bypass ( 8yrs later), the challenge this time is to attempt the ultimate British cycling endurance test - namely a 2000 miles ride (depending on the route) from Lands End to John O'Groats and back again. This is colloquially known as the LEJOGLE.

Last year I started at John O'Groats because I was not convinced ,after having not ridden for 40 yrs ,I would make it.The theory was that everyday on the road meant I was getting nearer  home as opposed to cycling further and further away.

Now having again visited the Childrens Hospice South West at Little Bridge House in Fremington I have been given all the inspiration, motivation, and will to succeed ,that I need for this new ultra challenge.

I feel now its even more important to make the extra effort to support Childrens Hospice South West in any way possible, especially in the present economic climate.

I have had my own medical problems over the years, but can see there are so many more worse  off   than  me ,especially  the children with life limiting medical conditions.

Just talking  to the staff  at Litttle Bridge House made me realise I could still do something that  may make the childrens short lives a little better.

My target is to average 100 miles a day, travelling partly up the eastern side of Britain and back down the western side, hopefully to complete the nation's biggest cycling challenge in 19/21 days.By which time I hope to have raise  £1000. Their website if you would like to learn more about them is www.chsw.org.uk .

My planned route is now finalised as ;

Day 1 Wed. 19th Aug. Barnstaple (from CHSW to Lands End 115 mls.
