Our daughter Niamh was diagnosed last May with Type 1 diabetes  She is only 8 years old so it is obviously both a very physical and emotional strain on her and all of the family.

Diabetes UK have been a great source of support to us as we try to adjust to a new lifestyle. Diabetes has advanced greatly in recent years, and will only continue to do so with donations from people like yourselves  

I intend to compete in the Ring of Kerry cycle on the 4th of July, a gruelling 180km one day event of hill climbs, quiet the challenge for a man in his 40's and wouldn't know one end of a bike from the other!! I've never taken on a challenge like this before (only started cycling 3 weeks ago!!), I've never felt the need to to be honest, but I feel like I have to do my little bit to support our brave little girl NIamh.
