Story
A couple of weeks before christmas 2012 my dad, Mike Arnold, was sent into hospital for an angiogram due to getting out of breath doing certain activities. Straight away it was noted that my dad had blocked and partially blocked arteries that supply the heart with its blood supply. Within a couple of days he was sent into Papworth hospital for a triple bypass and was greeted warmly by all staff and was looked after all the way through his time at the hospital. All concerns and questions were answered with care and respect for my dad and helped put my dads mind at ease about the procedure. The aftercare and attention my dad was given was second to none. Smiling and welcoming staff from beginning to end. The team they have are incredible and do an amazing job, even with my old man Considering he was probably a difficult patient haha. Our whole family are deeply thankful for everything they have done and given my dad the chance to live a long and happy life without the worry of this happening in the future.
With this in mind I have decided to do this run/bike/row to help raise funds to keep their work and research going. Why 120 miles I hear you ask? Well its simple. My parents are keen travellers and my dads favourite place is vancouver. Vancouvers largest national park is Stanley park and all of the paths and roads add up to a total of 120 miles. Ben Nolan and myself will do 60 miles each at Fitta bodies gym, Thingoe hill, Bury St Edmunds, on Friday 15th March starting at 6am. Due to using rowers, bikes and treadmill and be able to different speeds on each, we believe this will take around 10 hours. Obviously we want to do it quicker so we can get home and sleep after :D
I kindly ask for your support and donate any amount you can to show appreciation for this great cause. I'm sure we all know someone that has had a similar health issue and without the research and dedication behind all the work, these people may not be with us now.
I thank you in advance for your support.
Wish us luck, were going to need it.
