Story
Hi,
On the 22nd April 2018 myself (Matt) and Martin both completed the London marathon, raising money for our respective charities, in London's hottest ever conditions.
The following day, we learned of Matt Campbell's death, 3.7 miles from the finish. What started as a simple suggestion of a tribute 'run' of 3.7 miles, very quickly turned into a worldwide event, with representation from over 60 countries, and thousands of runners organising or taking part in their own 3.7 events. Matt's original goal of £2,000 has since passed £370,000 raised for the Brathay Trust.
With the money raised, and after consulting with Matt's family, the Brathay Trust launched the '3.7 resilience program' in October 2018. A program aimed at 10-16 year olds, to re-engage reluctant learners by providing an alternative curriculum for young people struggling with mainstream education as a result of low mental health and resilience.
We've been offered a chance to run the London Marathon again in 2019, representing the Brathay Trust and continuing to raise vital funds for The Brathay Trust 3.7 program. We're honoured to be running for Matt's chosen charity and hope we can continue to raise important funds and awareness.
