Story
I've known my dear friend Doddie for 25 years now and when, in 2017, he told us about his illness he was clear that he didn't want sympathy. "Nothing much to worry about", he said.
In the four years that have passed, I think we have all learned a lot about Motor Neurone Disease, and Doddie has never failed to show true grit in tackling this degenerative disease head-on.
Doddie is fighting, not just for himself, but for all those who have or will have this disease. Through the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, he is raising funds to aid research into the causes of MND, investigate potential cures and enable those suffering with the disease to live a full life.
It's fair to say that Doddie's natural zest for life and determination has seen many people and organisations get behind his cause. The latest example of this is the Lion's Trek for Doddie, which will see Former Lions and international rugby stars trek 30 miles from Doddie's farm in the Scottish Borders to BT Murrayfield the day before England takes on Japan for the Vodafone Lions 1888 Cup.
Looking at all Doddie has achieved, the least I can do is join the trek and help raise money for this excellent cause.
I know the past year has been tough, but if you are in a position to show your support, I'd be forever grateful!
