Story
This October, we (Martin Wilson and Tom Johnson) will join Kenny Logan on a 700 mile walk and cycle from Edinburgh to Paris, raising money for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
This gruelling challenge celebrates the legacy of our friend, Doddie Weir, who dedicated the last years of his life to helping others suffering with MND.
To mark the first Rugby World Cup without Doddie, we will be walking and cycling from BT Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh, to the Stade de France, Paris. Here, we will deliver the match ball to the final Pool B match; Ireland v Scotland.
And that's not all, in September staff at our branches across the UK have been working hard to match Martin and Tom's 700 mile target... and have actually managed more than 3000 miles! Meanwhile on 27 September the team at our Exeter HQ took to their exercise bikes and treadmills to show their support.
Throughout his life, Doddie showed immense determination, not just in his own personal battle with MND, but to better the lives of those who have or will get this terrible disease. His resilience has left a lasting legacy with the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which continues to fund research into the causes of MND and investigate potential cures, as well as enabling those suffering with the disease to lead a full life.
The challenge set up by Kenny is a way for Doddie’s friends and supporters to celebrate his determination in our own much smaller act of endurance.
We appreciate that times are hard for many right now, but if you can show your support we will be truly grateful.
