Story
Welcome to our new fundraising page for the Martin Whitehead Hospice Fund!
This is our way of remembering Martin and his wish for us to fundraise €250,000 for Our Lady's Hospice after the incredible end of life care the provided to him.
Martin passed away on the 8th of November 2009 at the age of 51 after a 2 year fight with Adrenal Cancer. He spent the last 11 weeks of his life in the loving care of Our Lady’s Hospice Harold’s Cross. Martin was a much loved husband, father, son, brother, friend and was soon to be Grandad for the second time. He is a hugely missed.
Martin felt so strongly about the care that he received, that he set us a task, to raise €250,000 for the hospice. It was during his stay that Martin donated his much loved (rarely used) 2007 Kawasaki 1600 motor bike that he bought just prior to his illness. He decided that this was to be the starting point for us to reach the goal and, after he passed, the task was something that kept us going through our grief.
Words cannot describe the care, compassion and support both Martin and his family received from the hospice during this extremely difficult time. We will also never be able to express how thankful we are to everyone who has donated and fundraised for this fund.
Here's to hitting €250,000!
