Story
During my year as president of Maidenhead Rotary Club (July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022) I'm running 1,000 miles to raise money for Unicef in Yemen, scene of the world’s worst man-made humanitarian crisis.
More than 12 million children are under threat from the dangers of war, disease and hunger and lack access to clean water, sanitation and basic healthcare – all priority areas for Rotary.
Malnutrition is at an all time high – two million children are acutely malnourished and more than 325,000 under-fives are suffering from severe acute malnutrition. And that is without the effects of Covid-19 on a country where the health system is on the brink of collapse after five years of war.
This is a commitment very close to my heart as my wonderful wife Amel is from Yemen and all of her family are there.
I'm also taking a bag when I run so I can pick up litter in support of Rotary's environmental campaign #EndPlasticSoup, which aims to stop single-use plastics going into our rivers and oceans by 2050.
.Thanks for any support you can give me!
