Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I've completed the Nottingham Half Outlaw triathlon on May 19 at Holme Pierrepont. The race is a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run. It's a big step up from other triathlons I've done and it was a big challenge to train for it and complete on the day! I finished in 6hrs 53 mins and it went well if somewhat painful! The swim was good but the water was cold and my feet basically froze, then onto the bike which again was good but feet still numb, finally the run and by now the sun was out and along with the crowds it was great atmosphere. By then my feet had thawed but were painful for the whole 13.1 miles! I was very relieved to see the finish line with family, friends and partner Karen shouting and cheering me on. I can now officially call myself an 'Outlaw'!
Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks tissues of the body including joints, skin, blood cells and organs. My girlfriend has this and in 2017 it attacked her kidneys amongst other things. Through all this she remains positive and upbeat, so i would like to raise awareness and money for Lupus. Hopefully a cure can be found in the near future but in the meantime i want to do my bit to help her.
