Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
Around December 2017, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and since then I have realised how hard it is to fight this disease. You can do everything right, exercise, eat the right foods, and the illness can still progress - but taking the right actions means you are less likely to get it in the first place and you can slow down its progress.
In my case, I had always exercised, but I was a terrible sugar fiend. It only recently found out that Type 2 Diabetes was the real cause of my dad's death (he had Heart Disease because of his Diabetes), and his mum died at 60, already blinded because of Type 1.
I am soon going to be 49 years old, so by getting in the ring (for the second time since I was diagnosed), I want to inspire people both YOUNG and OLD to start taking the right steps now to keep yourselves healthy. Seriously, if I can do this, you can!
Secondly, I wanted to do something positive and raise funds for charity. Diabetes has actually given me a new focus. I have never been more conscious of what I eat and how much I exercise, even though I thought I was health-conscious before! I want to raise funds for the charity, as we need more research to find ways to prevent it and cure those who have it.
Thanks for reading my story. Please give generously.
If you want to come see my fight, it is on 7th April at Sheffield United Football ground. Doors open at 2.30pm and the event starts at 3pm. There will be loads of great fights on the day.
Tickets cost £30 adult standard / £40 VIP and for every ticket sold, I will be donating £5 to Diabetes UK. Children's tickets are £20 standard (will update on VIP cost).
Thanks again.
