BUPA Great North Run 2010 · 19 September 2010 ·
Hey, thanks for sparing two minutes to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm taking part in the Great North run on 19th September '10'......man that's not that far away! I better get training! The charity I'm running for is The Great North Air Ambulabnce Service as they and the paramedic team saved my friends life last Summer.
Mick was involved in a nasty road accident that left him fighting in the hospital for several weeks. Mick suffered with a mass haemorrhage to the brain, a broken shoulder and broke several ribs. Here the doctors and medic team had no choice than to induce him in to a coma, leaving his body to slowly recooperate.
Now that he's out of the hospital and well, Mick thinks twice about getting back on his scooter! We're all glad he's well and back on his feet- he just needs to pile on the pounds! Mick lost over 2 stone in weight, baring in mind- he only weighed about 9 stone wet through to begin with!
The Great North Air Ambulance Service are based at Teesside, Cumbria and Northumberland and have only three aircrafts covering the whole of the North East of England, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. It costs approximately £1.2m a year to operate just ONE helicopter. This emergency service receives no government nor lottery funding, relying solely on the generosity of the public, in addition to it’s own business income generation streams.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep in to your pockets and donate, as much or as little as you can- every little bit counts.
Thanks, it's all very much appreciated. Don't forget to look out for me on the TV- I'll no doubts have passed out in a bush somewhere or will be pitching a piggy back over the finish line!
