Story
On the 26th June I am participating in the 100km Race to the Castle event in Northumberland, finishing at Bamburgh Castle (https://www.thresholdtrailseries.com/events/race-to-the-castle/). This is the furthest I will have run in one go by a long way and after about 9 months of training through all the seasons, I am hoping to complete it in under 12 hours (a daunting prospect!).
Whilst undertaking this (stupid?) challenge I want to support the work of S6 food banks in Sheffield. Most people reading this, like me, have probably never had to worry about being able to afford food, but sadly more and more people in our country and relying on food banks – especially due to the pandemic. Personally I think that if we can support people to feed their families, then this will give them one less thing to worry about and provide them with an opportunity to make positive changes in their lives.
The numbers below highlight the need for S6:
- One million meals will be needed for the next year
- A year ago they supported 150 people a week, they now support 1000 people a week
- £27 supports a family of three for 3 days
Any sponsorship to support these food banks and people in our communities would be greatly appreciated and makes the thought of running 100km a bit more bearable!
Thanks
