Story
Martin Harvey aged 86 and 3/4 with his two daughters, Michaela and Julie will be setting off from Lands End on Sunday 4th September 2022. They will cycle 1000+ miles over 14 days supported by Peak Tours and staying in B & Bs each night. If successful, Martin will be the oldest man officially recognised by Guinness World Records to complete the epic LEJOG adventure.
They each have their own personal challenges in preparing for this arduous event but collectively want to raise money for St Giles Hospice who supported the family during the illness and death of Jackie Harvey. A dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother and so very much more.
After some success racing in his youth Martin chose a career in banking over cycling as there was no money in the sport in those days. He retired from Barclays Bank in 1992 and rekindled his love of cycling. Firstly with a mountain bike but he soon traded that in for a road bike. He joined C C Giro cycling club. Taking part in an annual 100mile sportive in Abervile in France for a number of years. He has also toured the Himalayas, Vietnam, France in 2018 and the Alps in 2019
