My story
Hi all,.
Just an update on what’s happening with our JustGiving page. In 2019 eight friends tried to run the New York City Marathon in aid of Maura Dodrill for St James hospital but unfortunately we all know what happened over the next few years. We are taking on this challenge this November 2023 in memory of Kieran’s beautiful wife, Maura Dodrill and in aid of the Denis Burkitt Ward at St James’s Hospital and LARCC Cancer Sanctuary.
At some stage in our lives, all of our group have been affected by cancer, so we wanted to take on this challenge and raise funds by doing something that we all like to do which is running. It is a great opportunity for us all to come together and help other people that are fighting the fight now
Myself and the Road runners have been training hard over the last many months. We are nearly there now and have the finish line in sight in New York on 5th November. All donations are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support.

Kieran Dodrill’s Story
In early 2018, Maura was diagnosed with leukaemia and set to St James’s Hospital. Upon arrival, Maura was taken into the excellent care by the staff of the Denis Burkitt Ward where she would go onto spend a lot of time over the last year and a half of her life.
Maura fought a hard battle with leukaemia but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be, and sadly Maura passed away in June 2019.
We want to fundraise for the Denis Burkitt Ward so that they can continue giving the excellent care to other families that find themselves in the same circumstances that we found ourselves in.
