After a few too many glasses of red wine on a camping holiday I agreed to Rob's suggestion that we should attempt the Lands End to John O'Groats cycle challenge. Unfortunately, he had not drunk enough to forget all about the daft idea by the morning. Instead, what should have been another idle pipe dream, now looms large. Not content to simply laugh at our stupidity, Chris (another former workmate from my Pru days 20 years ago) has also agreed to take part.

On 1 June, we travelled down to Penzance by train and cycled across to a B&B in Sennen near Lands End. There then followed 12 days of cycling the length of Great Britain - 900 odd miles without too many detours.
