Story
My Niece Claudette has had type 1 diabetes since she was nine years old, she doesn't let it stop her from enjoying sports and life to the full, however 24/7 she's hooked up to an insulin pump to keep her alive. She constantly has to measure her blood sugar and my Sister often never gets to sleep through the night without out Claudettes sensor alarm going off due to her blood sugar levels getting dangerously low. Claudette didn't do anything wrong to get this life threatening disease, its an auto immune condition which killed off her pancreatic cells. She wont grow out of it, at present there isn't a cure. My sister dreams of the day when she doesn't have to worry if Claudettes levels are ok in the night or away from home. Insulin is not a cure. JDRF are working hard to find a cure and fulfill every persons dream living with this disease, to no longer having to rely on daily injections or an insulin pump to keep alive.
I'm runing the reading half marathon to raise funds for JDRF to help those dreams come true.
And I'll try not and post pictures of my toenails after they've fallen off LOL.
