Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

We give vital support to small charities to make Hertfordshire better for everyone

Story

“You have to forget your last marathon before you try another. Your mind can’t know what’s coming.”

– Frank Shorter, 1972 Olympic marathon gold medallist.

Well, I hope to heed that warning as I’ll be taking on the challenge of the Paris Marathon on 5th April and then just 3 weeks later, the London Marathon on 26th April!

Whilst this is obviously a real personal challenge, it’s also in support of the HERTFORDSHIRE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION which through the funding it provides, helps to fund schemes which improve the quality of life of the whole community.  Organisations which have benefited include the Herts Multiple Sclerosis Centre, The Living Room in Stevenage, Alzheimer’s Disease Society in Welwyn Hatfield, Phoenix Group for Deaf Children and Special Olympics GB.

If you’re a taxpayer, Just giving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.  I’m hoping that T-Mobile will also match the amount I raise and the charity also benefits from the Government’s Grassroots scheme.

So, a donation of £1 + £1 match funding from T Mobile + Gift aid of donors original £1 = £2.28.  This is then doubled by the Government to give £4.56! So, for each £1 you donate, you will actually be raising £4.56!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!
