In 2023 I met the inspirational Trevor Rigley who told me about his amazing fund raising trips to various incredible parts of the world and I was struck by how Trevor pushed himself for the benefit of others. I've decided to go with Trevor on one of his trips, and on 27th February 2025, I'll join Trevor and a group of Co-op Colleagues to spend five days walking across part of the Sahara in Morocco to raise funds for our partner, Barnardo's. Over the last few years, I've been walking a bit further and faster each day to improve my fitness, and this will be a fantastic way to push myself a little harder on the continent of Africa, somewhere that means a lot to me and where I have already learned much more about myself.

The events of recent of years have made 9 in 10 young people say ‘having enough money to cover basic needs’ is now an aspiration in life, over ‘achieving their dream job’ and ‘buying a house’*. We think the next generation deserve a better future, so Co-op has teamed up with Barnardo’s to bring communities together to support 750,000 young people.

Co-op colleagues are walking, running, cycling and climbing to raise £5m to fund work with young people to utilise social media to produce safe, reliable and shareable online support that can be accessed by any community. We’re also delivering in-depth support through services in communities that need it most.
