Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At midnight on 3 September I will be setting off from Sloane Square in London to ride 60 miles and ascend three steep climbs to reach Brighton in time for breakfast!
This all started on the tube whilst reading the paper. An advert caught my eye, "Night ride to the coast-London to Brighton".
I've done charity bike rides in the past and always wanted to try the ride to Brighton over the Downs. I've also had a strange fascination with night rides since a friend told me about the Dunwich Dynamo-look it up if you're curious! The combination seemed too good an opportunity to miss.
The ride is in aid of the Martlets Hospice which is based in Hove in Sussex. I admit that I don't have any connection to or experience of the Hospice, however I have raised funds for other hospices in the past and figure that they are all worthy of any caring person's support. This is what they say about themselves on their website
"We provide end of life care services to adults with life limiting illness including cancer. Our facilities include an 18 bed InPatient Unit, Day Hospice and Martlets at Home Service. Practical and emotional support is also offered to the families and carers of our patients including helping them through bereavement. Our main aim is to maximise the quality of life for our patients and we strive to support patient choice, dignity and independence in all we do. We are a registered charity and all our services are provided free of charge. It costs over £4 million every year to run the Hospice and local community support is essential to our survival."
