Story
Hi there,
Thank you for looking at my page. Following the news from Windsor that the Half Marathon would no longer be going ahead due to the sad news regarding Queen Elizabeth II, I've entered the Great South Run in Portsmouth in October to raise money for my friends charity.
My friend Sam was diagnosed with MND 3 years ago at the age of just 37. Sam and his wife Emma responded to this devastating news by establishing the charity Stand Against MND in 2019, with the aim of funding MND research and supporting patients and their families in need of palliative care.
50% of MND patients pass away within two years of their diagnosis and so to celebrate his 40th birthday Sam decided to recruit 40 people who would all commit to raising £500 each. Collectively, we aim to raise at least £20,000 for Stand Against MND before Sam's 41st birthday later this year.
Having not done any significant running for a few years now, I plan to commence training this week and will tackle the Great South Run in October. Any contribution you can make would be hugely appreciated and go to supporting Stand Against MND and help them support other families that have been tragically effected by this incredibly cruel disease for which one day, we hope they will find a cure.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.
Mark
