Story
I was lucky enough to be appointed CEO of The Rivers Trust in September 2019 and have been looking for a personal challenge to undertake so that I can raise funds to support our work and also highlight the really important role that Rivers Trusts undertake around the country to increase our resilience to climate change and to revive rivers for wildlife and people.
So, when we started talking about our Great River Revival campaign, and inviting people to 'Take 5' to spare a thought for rivers, I no longer had any excuses to procrastinate!
So, on the 18th to the 22nd of September, I rode my steel Genesis gravel bike 500 miles, via 5 Rivers Trusts, in 5 days (and I'm 50 years old) from my home near Abergavenny to the COP 26 site in Glasgow in late September. You can check out some of my pictures on Twitter @MarkLloydRT, and if you can spare £5, £50 or even £500 to beat my target then I'd be really grateful!
We all rely on rivers for our very survival. Thriving rivers support thriving communities and the Rivers Trust is leading the effort to revive the thousands of precious, magical and mysterious rivers that wind their way across the UK and Ireland.
Thank you for your support.
