Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I took up running 18 months ago after my son asked me to start running with him to assist both of us in getting fitter. I started by doing the couch to 5k (running from 1 lamppost to the next) , then I went and did my first park run which are free to enter 5k's held each Saturday morning. Once I could do this without stopping, I moved onto 10k and competed in my first proper event just over 1 year ago. The feeling of elation as I finished is such a buzz you just cant explain it. I am not bothered about my time but just to finish - that is always my goal. I have got a number of medals now from the various runs I have competed in which I call 'My Road to the marathon' .These inspire me to run more. I am planning on only doing this 1 marathon and what a marathon to be in. To say in the future I am not only a marathon runner but I have competed in the London Marathon for Sue Ryder is such an honour.
Having run for Sue Ryder before at a local half marathon I know how important Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall is the local area. Whilst running, so many people were cheering me on and clapping for Sue Ryder. 10 miles into the race my pace slowed down and I started to struggle, another competitor who was also running for Sue Ryder slowed down to my pace and ran the rest of the half marathon with me. This highlights that running for Sue Ryder isn't an individual sport but now a team effort and he saw me as a member of his team. I was grateful to the runner for helping me to cross the line and realised how good the team I had joined were.
