Story
I have decided to Cycle from Lands End (the most southern point of Mainland UK) to John o' Groats (the most northern point of Mainland UK). I hope to complete this in 10 days, averaging around 153km (just under 100 miles) per day with about 1000m of elevation each day (over 3000ft), which I will be cycling from the 4th-13th July. I’m doing this with the help of my lovely support team (my grandparents and mum) which without them would not be possible. They will be driving a motorhome and will be there throughout the journey, ready to drop off spare parts for my bike, provide me with food and drink, and be ready to pick me up at the end point for each day.
I have done many big rides over the years (and still plan to do a few more this year before this one!) but this will most definitely be my biggest and will hopefully raise a lot of money for Young Minds Trust, a charity that makes a massive difference in the lives of thousands of young people across the country in supporting and helping them with their mental health.
On top of cycling Lands End to John o' Groats (LEJOG), I have also been selected for a charity place in the TCS London Marathon 2022, which will be held on Sunday 2nd October. Although more of a cyclist, I still like to run and so this will be an amazing opportunity to run in a world-famous marathon and raise money for Young Minds.
I have chosen to raise money for Young Minds as I have personally seen the effects of mental health problems in young people, on them and their families. For years now my sister has suffered with various mental health problems which has led to her being hospitalised for the last year and a half. This has obviously had a massive impact on my sister and of course my family, which is why I have chosen to support Young Minds to try and ensure that less and less people will suffer.
