Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
It took 5 years for me to get a place in the London marathon. But after three knee operations within 18 months my body's not up to running again yet. So I decided to try something else. I thought the London to Brighton bike ride would be easy, all you do is sit on a bike (easier than running!) & on the map it looks down hill!
I'm doing it by myself & I don't have a fundraising target. If I manage to raise £125 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) I'll get priority entry next year, so you could force me to do it again! When you know that the BHF invests over £137 a minute on research to keep the nation's hearts healthy they need every penny they can get.
Just about every heart treatment we take for granted today has been helped by contributions from BHF-funded research. The BHF funds research, information and care, which helps almost every one of the 2.5 million heart patients in the UK.
- Investing in research - currently over 1,200 projects
- Supporting and caring for heart patients – There are over 400 BHF Nurses who visit heart patients in their homes. In 2007/08 BHF Heart Nurses helped and supported around 100,000 heart patients.
- Providing information on heart related illness - informing people about how to improve the health of their heart through public information campaigns, advertising and the media
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Heart Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
