Story
Mark and Sophia are teaming up once again to take on the Norfolk Superhero Challenge: a quadrathlon on and around the North Norfolk coast, comprising of a 1 mile swim, 3 mile kayak, 45 mile cycle and 8 mile run. Each discipline will be done together as a team from start to finish.
Mark and Sophia each spend much of their summertime, weekends and bank holidays, staying in almost next door houses on Gong Lane, Burnham Overy Staithe. This, along with their combined team age of over 100, has given rise to their aptly coined team name "Gong Lame".
All participants are quite rightly required to - and are more than happy to - raise money for a good local cause selected by the event organisers (who are the real superheroes here).
The 2023 Norfolk Superhero is supporting Norfolk Community Foundation's Nourishing Norfolk initiative to ensure that no one in Norfolk goes hungry. They're working with local charities to set up food hubs where people can access healthy, nutritious food at low prices or for free, offering the benefit of dignity and choice for people living under increasing financial pressure to meet basic needs.
