Story
During lockdown, Mark has been helping his sister with her horses as his daycare was closed due to Covid-19. Mark is 29 and has autism. He has always enjoyed horses, and has been fortunate enough to be able to ride his sisters pony whilst growing up, as many don’t have that opportunity. Now he’s learning how much work goes into looking after the horses as he’s been helping his sister muck out, fill hay nets, make feeds, change waters and rugs and bath them. This is his happy place, as they never judge or expect too much of him, and he would like to give those less fortunate than him the opportunities to enjoy these wonderful beings as much as he does.
During august and September, Mark and his sisters horse Jasper, are going to aim to complete 500 minutes of horse riding/carriage driving, to raise money for the RDA (riding for the disabled association).
The 500 challenge will run throughout August & September 2021, encouraging fundraisers to donate or take part in an event or activity of their choice involving the number 500 (or multiples) representing the, almost, 500 RDA Groups around the Country. The 500 Challenge will raise funds to support the delivery of RDAs first Virtual National Championships taking place on 25th - 26th September.
