Story

Thank you for visiting our 'JustGiving' page.

Myself and Janet have signed up and are ready to undertake the Mongol Rally. What's the Mongol Rally you may ask? It's a 20,000 miles unsupported endurance drive from the UK to Mongolia and back.

Why now? I will be retiring in July, and Janet and I have spent time considering how we may occupy our new found freedom, in a way we can enjoy visiting far flung countries from the relative comfort of our trusty Skoda. There are a surprisingly high number of full hardy and like minded adventurers who dare to take on this challenge each year, most of which, we note are half our age and twice as "fit". Still we hope to bring experience and "superior" driving skills to the proceedings when we set off for Mongolia on the 19 July 2019.

We will be driving our 15 year old Skoda Fabia across Europe and Turkey, following the ancient Silk Road through Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and on across the Mongolian Steps to the finishing point at Ulan-Ude in Siberian Russia, all in circa 55 days.

There is a well-meaning objective to this crazy adventure and that is to inspire you to kindly donate generously to our chosen charity, Demelza Hospice Care for Children and Young Adults. The hospice provides care and emotional support for children and their loved ones so they can enjoy the time together for as long as they have.

Please dig deep and thank you for your generous support.
