Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In January 2019, our lives turned upside down when our amazing and wonderful Dad/Grandad fell ill just after Christmas. Although extremely poorly, he fought long and hard over the next 4 weeks to leave hospital and return home. With the help of Pilgrims Hospice, he finally achieved his aim and returned home on the evening of the 06th February 2019.
Having fought so hard to get home, our amazing Dad/Grandad passed away a short time later on 07th February 2019. There hasn't been a day since where we haven't thought of him and we miss him so very much.
Throughout the last days of his life, our Dad/Grandad was cared for and looked after by the amazing team from Pilgrims Hospice. Words cannot express our gratitude for the love and care they showed him and we will be forever grateful to this wonderful organisation.
My Grandad was my biggest supporter and was fully behind my decision to become a Firefighter in London. Although he died before I realised my dream, I know he is watching over me every time I mobilise to an incident.
In September 2021, we are running the South West Coastal Path between Perranporth and Mevagissey. We are hoping to run the entire 250km in 9 days carrying all our equipment and camping each evening at various locations on the route. We have chosen to run for 2 charities (The Pilgrims Hospice in Kent and the National Firefighters Charity) and hope to raise much needed funds for both.
We have many happy memories of holidays in Cornwall, staying near Mevagissey and surfing in Perranporth. This seems the ideal way to remember him whilst supporting both charities.
Please help us help them, and ensure that other families can call on their support when they need them most.
Thank you,
Mark and Lauren xx
