Thank you for reading
Me and my son Flynn who is also my best mate are teaming up to both compete in the Ironman Lanzarote for the CMT Charity.
The event starts on the 17th of May for the Iron kids which Flynn will enter, he will compete along with his big brother and Little sister and his friends too.
Along with his friends in Flynn's age group he will enter a 250 meter run, 100 Meter swim then a further 250 meters run.
Flynn gets out of breath quite easy so it will be a big challenge for him, I will then on the 18th of May complete the full Iron man event, 3.8 k swim, 180 k bike ride and 42.2k Run within the cut off time limit of 17 hours
A bit about Flynn a normal cheeky little boy well really cheeky, Flynn is still waiting to be diagnosed which has been a long process the hospital say he has a Neurotic disease, he is waiting for a biopsy on a muscle in his calf which will hopefully point a step closer to what condition he has, Flynn along with his mum have to fly to Gran Canary on a regular basis for all sorts of tests, which are still on going he also has Phiysio therapy 3 times a week, he is a brave little boy who never complains.
Flynn’s condition makes him quite unique as well as unsteady on his feet, he walks on he's tip toes he is always falling over and has smashed his face on quite a few occasions, now known as (tippy toes Flynn) he has been fitted with calipers and wears them without any fuss to school every day, he is our very own little Forest Gump!!
Flynn was originally diagnosed with a condition called CMT but since having more tests in Gran Canary it is still unclear what condition he has, the CMT Charity have been very helpful to him and his Mum so we have decided all proceeds will go to the CMT charity, everyone that donates will also receive a cool special friendship band from the Charity for awareness of CMT.
We have 8 weeks to go to complete the training for me its been life changing, a whole years training,, Lanzarote also being one of the toughest courses on the circuit with the heat ,wind and the volcano climbs totaling over 2500 meters , so please next time your in your car reset the mileage counter and just see how far that 3.8K swim is !! 180K bike ride is!! and then run a full marathon 42.2K really is, anyone who has completed any Ironman will tell you it aint no disco.
We will be posting some photos as we go on here and the CMT face book page so please just give a little to a great little charity for a brave and excited little boy.
